The beautiful Virgin Islands deserves a powerful voice in Washington D.C., U.S. House of Representatives. A leader that will advocate for Agriculture, Education, Infrastructure, Energy, and Health, while prioritizing the well-being (mental and physical) of every resident. A leader who will champion the cause to secure all federal benefits and entitlements due to the people of the Virgin Islands! That leader is Ida Smith, a seventh -generation Virgin Islander, and she needs your support to make a difference.
Ida is a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and advocate for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her commitment to public service focuses on empowering our society, protecting our environment, and ensuring our unique challenges are heard and met in Congress. She has notably petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for the enforcement of Treaty Series No. 629 ratified by Senate 39 Stat. 1706 between Denmark and the United States. Strikingly, she is the grandniece of Alexander Meyers, a winning party to the landmark case Dudley v. Meyers, 422 F. 2d 1389 (1970), which set precedence in quiet title actions throughout the United States.
Ida is well versed in federal, international, and Virgin Islands law, has a proven record of accountability, reliability, determination, and integrity. She is currently the active nominee, through public nomination petition, for the 2024 Independent candidate for Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives for the Virgin Islands, meeting all federal qualifications set forth in the U.S. Constitution and Title 48 U.S.C. 1713.
